The Real Captain Phillips is NOT a Fraud
The allegations that have just come out that Captain Richard Phillips was not a hero are ridiculous. Anybody who knows the man, as a fellow Vermonter in the business I can say that in no way would Phillips claim to be a hero. Every interview online or on television, the guy has always said he is not a hero and thanked the armed forces and his crew every chance he got.
I am sure there are many factors involved when running a ship that size and in no way am I able to speak intelligently on the dynamics of a crew and their Captain, but I have to think that the situation was like nothing most us have ever been in and I'm sure Phillips made the choices he thought he had to make.
We all have to understand that anytime a real life encounter makes it to the big screen that there is going to be some fictionalization of that movie. Obviously, the producers are going to make him out to look like a hero. It's called the Movie BUSINESS, not the Movie Truth Academy.
The guy's a legit person. BTW, He was at a theatre in Williston, Vermont two nights ago at a Benefit Screening for a kid killed at Champlain College. Yea, good guy.
